Spring Broke for Easter Break

I am so poor. Buying a Playstation 3 with your tax refund will do that to you, though. You better believe I’m bringing that bad boy to Mom’s house for Easter though. Yes sir, I will be sitting on the couch racking up some mad points on PAIN and relaxing to Everyday Shooter or working off some stress shooting people in the head on Call of Duty 4.

On the bright side, I only have to survive 8 days of poverty after I return from the trip to see my family for Easter and then it’s Pay Day. I’m hoping to bug Mom to buy me some groceries and hygiene products to get me by for the week when I get back. I’m really only out of a couple of essentials, and I don’t mind eating repeat meals for a few days in a row.

Mom, just so you know, I’m coming home not just for Easter, but also to mooch off your food and do laundry. I love you!

Bachelor Chow: El Tacos Del Pollo Del Dishwashero

January 14th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Bachelor Chow, Entertainment, Food, Lifestyle, Videos, cooking, travel, vote

A second installment of Bachelor Chow in one day? What could I be thinking? Could I have gone crazy? Darn right I’ve gone crazy! When you just don’t have the time or energy to be grilling chicken, you can try other, less delicious ways to cook your chicken. In this particularly special video episode of Bachelor Chow, The Raging Tech shows you how to cook frozen chicken chunks in the dish washer!

We don’t have El Pollo Loco here in the mountains, but I’m sure that ultimately, flame-grilled chicken is way better than dishwasher chicken. I have entered this video into their contest on their website. Go to Youtube and El Pollo Loco’s website and vote for me!

Bachelor Chow: Awesome Dogs II

January 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Bachelor Chow, Daily Life, Food, Futurama, Lifestyle, Tidbits

I’d like to introduce to you a new segment on The Raging Tech called “Bachelor Chow,” the name of course, stolen from the tv show Futurama.  What I’ll be sharing in “Bachelor Chow” are recipes for the single, lazy, or low-income man (or woman). They are by no means necessarily healthy or nutritional, but they fill your stomach and keep you alive - and are usually pretty tasty too!

Today’s man-meal is the sequel to Awesome Dogs, whose recipe I do not possess and dare not attempt without it. I have modified the recipe to produce similar results.

Awesome Dogs II

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pack of 8 Gwaltney or other Lowest Common Denominator hotdogs
  • 1 Can of 8 Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits
  • 1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese

Open the can of biscuits - use rolling pin if you have one, otherwise use another tin can (such as a soup can) to flatten out each of the biscuits into a flat dough. Don’t get it too thin or it will break when we wrap it around the hotdog later. Grease a cookie sheet or pizza tray with a canola oil spray can. Lay out your dough on the cookie sheet. Put it aside and set the oven to pre-heat about 350 degrees F.

While that’s pre-heating, get a pan and fry the hotdogs to your desired taste. Lay the hotdogs on top of the biscuit dough, one per biscuit. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on each hotdog over top of a biscuit.  Now attempt to wrap each of these up into a nice little biscuity cocoon. When the oven is ready, put them in for about 13 minutes (may vary depending on your oven and/or the brand of biscuit, but you get the idea). Pull them out when they’re browned and slightly soft still on the sides. Let them cool, and they should be ready to eat. Serve with fries and / or baked beans and a beer, according to your bachelor tastes.
