Caffeinated ENGOBI Guitar Hero Battle Contest

May 15th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Daily Life, Energy, Food, Lifestyle, Technology, caffeine

Do you rock daily with Aerosmith, Guns ‘n Roses, Ozzy, Coheed and Cambria? When someone asks if you play the six-string, do you say, “No, I play the five buttons.” Do you relentlessly air guitar to EVERY song you hear EVER, including hymns at church? Do you try to imagine what color the notes will be? Do you make discouraging remarks at neighbors who think your video games are too loud? There is a very, very good chance that you may be here to save the world, Guitar Hero.

ENGOBI, the bastard child of snack chips and caffeine, wants you to get all hopped up on their product and then film you and your friends doing your best riffs and stage dives and other cool rockstar moves, and upload it to ENGOBI.com.

In this “Don’t be a Piano Hero” contest, your video can showdown against other Guitar Heroes and you could have a chance to win an Xbox 360-enabled Fender Stratocaster, some gear from ENGOBI, and other miscellaneous prizes.

The ENGOBI girls are making their way down the coast, in the ENGOBI van, probably eating some ENGOBI, they’ll be giving away gear and letting you play Guitar Hero with your friends van side. My parents always told me to stay away from vans offering video games and snacks. However, if there are hot girls inside, I don’t see why it would be a problem.

Spring Broke for Easter Break

I am so poor. Buying a Playstation 3 with your tax refund will do that to you, though. You better believe I’m bringing that bad boy to Mom’s house for Easter though. Yes sir, I will be sitting on the couch racking up some mad points on PAIN and relaxing to Everyday Shooter or working off some stress shooting people in the head on Call of Duty 4.

On the bright side, I only have to survive 8 days of poverty after I return from the trip to see my family for Easter and then it’s Pay Day. I’m hoping to bug Mom to buy me some groceries and hygiene products to get me by for the week when I get back. I’m really only out of a couple of essentials, and I don’t mind eating repeat meals for a few days in a row.

Mom, just so you know, I’m coming home not just for Easter, but also to mooch off your food and do laundry. I love you!

The Point Blank Critic

The Point Blank CriticMy friend just recently decided to start his own review blog called The Point Blank Critic. He’s really into trying new kinds of beer, Apple (Mac) computers and products, music, movies, video games, and technology in general. He also happens to be a pretty good cook, and one of my best friends. These last two interests are not necessarily cause-and-effect, but being a good cook is a nice bonus to have in a friend.

For his first blog post, he’s started what he says will be a regular event: Free Drink Friday - where he hopes to review a different beer weekly. The goal: to save people from horrible, cheap, piss-water beer. He does not claim to be a beer snob; The Point Blank Critic will be reviewing national brands as well as local breweries and microbreweries. From what I know of him, there’s more good reviews in store. Be sure and bookmark The Point Blank Critic at PointBlankCritic.com.

Back to the Grind

December 17th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Daily Life, Music, My Life, Tech Support, Work, caffeine, iTunes

There’s something about Monday mornings that makes me want to rock out. By the time I get in to the office, my head is aching for caffeine and my eyes are droopy. I have declared in my brain an all-out war on productivity. I really need two good hours on a Monday morning to swing back into things.

I usually get a good classic rock song stuck in my head (even before turning on any music) and I’ll have to go wading through my iTunes library or searching YouTube to find just that song. And that usually leads into another inspiration. And another, and another.  Maybe I should be a DJ for a classic rock station one day.

I like to put on a movie or a tv show on my work computer when I check my e-mail and read the news in between calls. It helps to have two monitors on one computer when you do things like this. I put the movie on the left screen and do my e-mailing on the right. I pour myself some Diet Coke, microwave my breakfast, and sit down and get to work.

Hope you all have a happy Monday.

I Should Never Blog Before Coffee

December 13th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in A.D.D., Daily Life, Err., My Life, caffeine, sleep

I miss my boss. She always made the coffee in the morning, and was here early enough that it was ready by the time I got to work. She’s left for a Christmas vacation, and now the coffee goes unmade. I’ve been drinking sodas the last few mornings, but that doesn’t quite do the trick the same way as coffee.

Maybe part of my problem is I haven’t been sleeping well. I’m not sure if I’ve been overdoing the caffeine during the day, or if stress is keeping me from sleeping deeply. It was nice that I came into work and was able to find a parking space and got into the office on time. Exam week has been crazy - apparently students lose all sense of morality and unselfishness and general common sense right after “Reading Day.”

We had a rousing time last night hanging out (my friends and I) playing a neat dice game I enjoy, but there were a lot of times where it just went kind of slow. A lot of my friends are pretty competitive and / or ADD, so there were some mood-killers present and it kind of brought the whole thing down. Maybe things will be better today. I sure hope so.
