TrailerAddict Leaks Wolverine Movie Trailer

July 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Entertainment, Technology, Videos, movies

Website TrailerAddict leaked the trailer footage shown at ComicCon of the new Marvel film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, that’s centered around popular Marvel comics X-Men character Wolverine, with some Sabretooth and Strider and Gambit action, it would seem.

I can’t wait for a more official version to be released, but for now it looks like this shaky cam footage will have to do. Enjoy!

The Dark Knight in Theaters Friday

July 14th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Entertainment, Hollywood, movies

The latest installment of the newest Batman re-telling hits theaters this Friday, July 18th! Heath Ledger is being nominated for a posthumous Oscar for his performance as the Joker, Christian Bale is back as the new Batman, Michael Caine returns as Alfred, and Morgan Freeman makes his short appearance as Gadget Guy (I can’t be bothered with silly things like research).

Several viral marketing sites attempt to bring depth to the new movies, with sites like WhySoSerious.com and IBelieveInHarveyDent.com letting visitors “in” to the Gotham City world.

I don’t know about any of you, but as excited as I was about the new Joker, I’m doubly excited about seeing Aaron Eckhardt as Harvey Dent, aka Two Face! Some photos are “leaked” around the internet of what he looks like post-accident, but I think they’re all photoshopped forgeries. If you pause the Hi-Def version of Trailer 4 on the scene with Harvey Dent holding a gun beside his face, you can see where he’s been burned around the edges, especially near his chin, and his suit is strikingly different on the side that’s barely visible.

My original impression was that we’d meet Harvey Dent in this film, and then see him turn into Two-Face later, but now it looks as though we may see a Two-Face by Friday’s new release!

James McAvoy & Ron Perlman in New Hobbit Movie

June 3rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Entertainment, Tidbits, movies

Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson’s latest incarnation of The Hobbit is still in the planning stages, and rumors abound about who and what will be involved.

Del Toro was recently quoted as saying he wants Hellboy actor Ron Perlman in the film, possibly as Smaug, although he says he also has ‘other plans’ in store for the actor. It’s also been mentioned that they may be recruiting tiny actor James McAvoy in the role of Bilbo Baggins.

Actors Ian McKellan and Andy Sirkis will bring back their roles from the recent Lord of the Rings trilogy of films.

French Filmmakers Test ‘Boundaries’ with Movie ‘Frontiers’

May 4th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in DVD, Daily Life, Entertainment, Lifestyle, movies

Coming soon to select theaters from French film company After Dark is a horror movie called “Frontiers(s)” that is supposed to rival blockbuster hits like “Saw” and “Hostel” in its goriness and suspense. The trailer is available to watch now at Frontiers Unrated Frontier(s). You have to enter the site and navigate almost all the way to the right to get to the even gorier unrated trailer.

My favorite thing about watching horror movies, since it’s hard to actually scare me when I’m watching a movie, is things that are almost feasible that make you cringe, such as torture or really shocking violent imagery. The kind of horror movies I can’t watch are the ones that depict some pain or torture just too horrible to picture myself enduring. It looks like this is a movie that might test that limit for me.

The trailer shows people being beaten, swung at with axes, one guy gets his Achilles tendon snipped by bolt cutters, and you see a guy with a table saw starting up the blades. The final image of the trailer before the title is just a woman with short hair screaming in agony.

The trailer on the main page is way less informative than the unrated one deeper in, so be sure and find it on the site. Also, this film is one of the few unrated films to actually make it to theaters. Most films get cut for theaters and then release an unrated version on DVD later.

What’s neat is this movie is only showing in a few select theaters starting May 9th, and just 4 days later on May 13th it comes out on DVD. If you can, I’d recommend seeing it in theaters first unless your home theater system is just awesome.

British Knights are Back!

May 2nd, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in 90's, Clothing, Daily Life, Lifestyle, Music, accessories, movies

The shoes that every kid used to nag his parents over when I was a child, British Knights (or BK) were discontinued, sometime shortly after the likes of MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice put down the microphone in the ’90s. I don’t know the exact date or time, but they seemed to fade out in the background, like so many stars of the ’80s and ’90s.

Recently, I’ve heard that the New Kids on the Block are reuniting, most likely under the moniker “The Block” since they’re obviously not kids anymore. Some of the fan favorites will still be performed, like staple “The Right Stuff,” while several members are working on new material.

What is it with the ’90s coming back? I realize it was cool and trendy to throw back to the ’70s, and we recently have had plenty of ’80s throw-back movies and trends. I guess the college kids and high school kids that are in school now were born in the ’90s or late ’80s, so they feel a closer bond to that time period.

Kylara really loves the ’80s, she was born near the middle of the decade. I have a closer affinity for the ’70s, even though I was born in the early ’80s. (Yes, I realize a lot of you will read this and go, wow, RT, you’re just a youngin’.)

What decade do you relate to the most? Is it the decade from your childhood, from your teenage years, or later on on life? Share your thoughts in the comments.
