No Costume, DIY Skills, or Time?

Halloween is coming up on us, it’s just this Friday! You have 4 days and counting left to make sure you have secured yourself some sort of Halloween candy. Whether you’re going out on the town, going trick-or-treating with little ones, or staying at home and giving out candy, it’s always fun to dress up for the occasion.

You can be pretty unique without blowing your budget, and there’s still time! You could be a character from any number of movies, a doctor, a fireman, a pirate, fictional characters from books or legends, or just about anything you can imagine. It takes a lot of effort to combine the right accessories and make-up or to make your own costume. Maybe you’re not all that handy with arts & crafts or maybe you just plain don’t want to do it yourself. You can always buy a costume! But don’t settle for those cheap crappy ones you buy at the local Mega-lo-mart, pick up something awesome online and save yourself some money. HalloweenAdventure has some good ones (especially check out the Star Wars halloween costumes - they’re neat!).

We don’t have an office party here usually, we just do a pot-luck or something and everyone wears their costumes to work. I’m going to have to wake up early and get to the store and get some supplies for my costume that I’m making (I’m going as Shaun from “Shaun of the Dead”). In the past, I’ve been James Bond, Dr. Greg House from the TV Show “House,” the hunchback of Notre Dame, and a vampire, to name a few.

Holiday Alert: Mother’s Day is Upon Us

Mother’s Day in the United States is May 11th, 2008, and it’s fast approaching. There are lots of people who will be posting “Top 10 gifts” lists and their own opinions on what you should or shouldn’t give your Mother for Mother’s Day. There will be plenty of articles on giving “green” or environmentally friendly gifts. And rest assured, there will be plenty of sappy commercials on TV from jewelry stores.

If you’re undecided, give your mom a hug, a smile, an “I love you” and maybe some flowers this mother’s day.

For my mom, I’m planning on sending her some online love or a phone call the day of - and then later when I can come home for the weekend I might take her out to dinner or do some other nice thing for her. I’m not really sure yet. Because of the distance away that I live from my family, it’s hard to get home for things on specific dates other than major holidays (Christmas & Easter & Thanksgiving).

If you’re still stuck on what to do, visit 1800Flowers.com and check out their Mother’s Day gift ideas - they’re more than just flowers, they have an assortment of gifts and accessories.
